Those of y'all who do something similar to this whole food blogging thing may have suggestions for a nice camera in the $200 to $300 range. I would like to hear them. I found a few for cheap on Amazon.com, but I like reviews from real people as well. If you have a suggestion please leave it in the ol' comment area, and life will continue as usual. That is all.

Woe Is Me
If you are a regular reader of the Bearded Weirdo you may have noticed that the quality of photographs have recently diminished. As you may recall, I dropped my phone into a bowl of butternut squash soup a few months back causing some lens issues. I did some modifications of my own, removed the lens cover–which may have been dumb–and cleaned the inner workings of the lens housing. Despite my efforts, a strange, foggy, haze has developed around the perimeter of most photographs. Sad face.

Temporary solution: You can use my camera! I have yet to drop it in a bowl of squash soup.
For the record, I am very satisfied with the camera I use to take all my pictures: Panasonic DMC-LS70. The "Lumix" series that it's from has gotten good reviews.
P.S. Keep the old one for the "artsy" effect. Yeahhh.
I'll second the Lumix series vote. I have a DMC-FZ8 that is a lot better than I make it look, probably.
Also second keeping the old camera for artsy-fartsy soft shots.

OLD MAN TRIPOD KARMA REVENGE
I'll third the Panasonic Lumix love-fest. It's what I use for all of my photos as well, easy to use, easy to learn, not terribly expensive.
I use a Hitachi SD DVD Cam - it records stills on an SD card and video (standard or widescreen!) on minidisks. There's no flash, but the low light setting is pretty cool. You can also capture stills from video. It was $475 when I got it two years ago, but I've seen comparable cameras with more technology being sold as low end. I saw mine online for $266 just now, so if you were to kick in a little extra, you might be able to get something really high tech. Hooray shitty economy!

you can have my old digital camera from 2001, if you want it. but i dont think it will do. it is really heavy and slow. good luck to you!! ;o)
